Project Reflection
What did you think of the last project?
The last project that we completed consisted of making our own test problems and putting them all together as a class. I liked figuring out numbers that worked togther in certain problems and being able to look back on previous knowledge. I developed problems that I believed fit into categories based on difficulty level. I do recommend that Effi continue this project in the future mainly because it was a good studying technique for finals.
How are you going to study for the exam?
I am constantly in panic mode to pass this exam, so I plan on using the book as my main resource and going back and picking a handful of problems to solve from each chapter. I will also finish the study guide that all the classes put together. I am planning on meeting some friends on Monday (day before part 1 of the exam) to help each other with any questions.
This semester started out better than it ended for me. I recieved high B's and A's on most of the tests until the end of the semester when I received a seemingly low grade on a test that I thought I prepared myself for. Although this dropped my confidence level, it encouraged me to spend more time preparing for future tests. As a freshman in a junior level class has forced me to challenge myself further and help prepare for my future.

All School Math Exhibition
What did you learn from this project?
From this project I assimilated new knowledge through doing extensive research and then later writing a section to the Encyclopedia on the history of linear equations. I also improved my citing skills based on all the websites that I learned from while doing my research. It was an individual project that I was able to focus on in my own perspective while also contributing to this book that has been carried on through all of Effi's classes.
What would you do differently next time?
If i were to do this project over, I would have looked more into the schooling aspect of Linear equations. Although I did add History on how Linear Equations made it into text books, I wish I would have put more into it by using different sources. My sources were very reliable but it would have been reasonable if I added more than 3 or 4.
What would you add or change about the encyclopedia?
To better improve this encyclopedia I would add more on how you perform a linear equation. By looking at the previous sections there was a lot of typing rather than a clear step by step explanation. Most of us know how to solve a linear equation but not a lot of the people we are presenting to know how.
What would you do differently if you were exhibiting your project again?
If I were to present this project again I would have wanted to learn more about all the professions that I put in my presentation rather than knowing just a handful. My project wasn’t as interactive has I would have hoped, therefore, I would develop a way to engage people in the exhibit without disregarding the beginners.
What do you see as your greatest strengths and weaknesses moving into future math classes?
This year i have retained the significance of responsibility and advocacy for all the work I do inside and outside of math. I have formulated certain skills that have encouraged me to move on throughout the year. Hiring a tutor has been extremely helpful in learning new content in ways that I wouldn't normally. I also learned the importance in motivation even when the assignments are not the most entertaining. I hope to carry on these strengths as I progress into Pre-calc and beyond. My weaknesses this year were my test taking skills. Although I scored well on some of the tests, I wished to have scored higher on others. Towards the end of the year I realized it is important to look at every problem in every circumstance. Making sure you go over them multiple times and have every formula memorized that may be on that test.
