Portfolio
I want to base my digital portfolio off of happiness. I want to capture all the things in life that make me happy and make a portfolio of them. From all of my family and friends to the simplicity of my favorite scenerys. My portfolio will include a series of portraits in different areas. I will include my trip to Denver to see my best friend.

What did you get out of this documentary?
This documentary showed the true meaning and definition of happiness. It manifested the idea of having nothing and wanting everything has more meaning and authenticy than having everything and wanting nothing. The way vik presented his art and incorporated it into every pickers life, proclaimed a sense of satisfaction and dignity.
How and where can you use what you learned in other aspects of your life?
Vik communicated that for the beginning of his life he desired to have materialistic things rather than happiness. He was extremely poor and constantly fantasized everything he wanted out of life. I want to apply this to my life and realize that I am very fortunate, but by taking advantage of this, I am not living an authentic and meaningful life. I want to spread happiness and find a way to express meaning.
Do you look at what Vic did as art/photography? How/Why?
I look at what Vic did as art/photography. He has a unique route that he takes that differs from most. He uses his artistic abilities and applied it to a current issue that changed people's lives.
How can you take these ideas and become a better artist?
I can take this and apply it to my art by remembering the different ways that vik was unique in his own way. Art can be taken in any direction, Vik decided to provide for a cause while also doing what he loves. If I find something I am passionate about, I can use my artistic abilities and find a way to do what Vick did.
Pick ONE person from the documentary who has inspired you and explain who they are, what struggles they had to overcome and why they have inspired you.
… Inspired me because he planned to live an authentic and amazing life. He kept referring to how lucky he was when many would disagree that he is the opposite. All he wanted to do was help the picker community. …. had passion that many did not have. Not once did he feel bad for himself or mourn over everything bad in his life. ….. reminded me that I am extremely fortunate and never to complain or take advantage of it because

Kachina Dolls
Art is considered something that appeals to somebodies senses or emotions. People use it for different reasons, from therapeutical all the way to recreational. It way of expression and cultural representation.
Context effect art in a number of ways. It affects mainly what the artists was trying to portray with their art. They could be representing historical events that happened during the period the piece was released or other events that took place while the artist was alive. Context also affects the style that is used within artwork. Some artistic techniques have not been developed while others have been around for thousands of years.
A cultural sensitive issue that affect art is religion. Religion has an impact on every single person in the world whether they know it or not. Some of the biggest tragedies in history have been caused by religion. The crusade is just one example. With different cultural sensitive issues throughout the course of history, there have been many works of art to represent them.
It is important to avoid replication, interpretation, or illustrations of images or icons of kachina dolls because you want to avoid copying or being accused of being an imposter. Demonstrating your own work in a unique way is what gets the attention of the viewers; creating something that is different from others.

I think this picture is a good picture because it communicated many of the principles we were asked to use while capturing our images over the weekend. You can see that the wood is a leading line that directs the viewers eye. I can also see the use of pattern in the leaves and possibly even texture with the wood underneath the fallen leaves.
The bolts on this bride are creating a continuos pattern that leads off the page. I felt as though, if I would have just captured the bolts without the background, the picture would be less of an interest to the eye. I purposely made wanted the bolts to capture a texture as well. the fact that the bolts create a bumpy texture.
This picture is a simple example of rule of thirds. While looking at this picture your eye is first directed to the tree. If the tree was centered, the picture would not be as engaging.

This picture demonstrates framing. The outline of the gazebo captures the rest of the picture. Both the poles on the far left and right are the beginning of the frame and the roof of the gazebo is the end. I think this is a good picture because I was able to find a unique way to use framing in the picture and catching the viewers eye.
This picture is beautiful. The bridge in the center brings it all together. From the river beneath to the mountain above: everything in this picture complements each other and forces everything to work together. The bridge creates a leading line that in the circumstance, leads of the page horizontally but at a tilt.
In this picture. The train tracks that lead across the river slowly direst your eyes back. Therefor, this picture demonstrates leading lines.
